Overview
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive, a studio based in Montpellier. Each year a being called the Paintress paints a number, and everyone of that age vanishes; the game follows the latest expedition sent to stop her.

Its world draws on Belle Époque France, painted with a melancholy that runs through the story. That a debut game from a relatively small team carries such confidence is part of what made it remarkable.

Gameplay
Battles are turn-based, but defending is active: you dodge, parry and counter in real time. The result is a combat system that feels familiar and newly urgent at once.
